Before you connect
- Slack is available on Growth and higher plans.
- A Glean Feed Owner or Admin must connect and configure the integration.
- The Slack person authorizing the app must be allowed to install it in the intended Slack workspace.
- One Slack workspace can connect to one Glean Feed workspace in this version.
- Choose a channel where the Glean Feed app can be invited. That channel receives notifications and is the only channel where moderation buttons work.
1. Connect and configure Slack
- Open Integrations > Slack.
- Select Connect and approve the Glean Feed app in Slack.
- Invite the app to the channel that should receive updates and moderation actions.
- Return to Integrations > Slack. If no channels appear, reload after inviting the app.
- Under Defaults, choose the Notification channel and Default board.
- Under Notifications, choose which updates should post to Slack. Enable Status changes if the channel should approve or reject pending requests from Slack.
- Select Save settings.
2. Complete a feedback workflow
- In a Slack channel where the app is available, enter
/gleanfeed A customer asked for dark mode. - In the modal, review the title, optional description, destination board, and optional source note.
- Submit the form.
- Confirm Slack reports that the request was created.
- Open Feedback in Glean Feed and confirm the request appears on the chosen board with the source note, if you added one.
- If New feedback requests is enabled, confirm the configured notification channel receives the update.
Notifications and moderation
Glean Feed sends enabled event types to the single configured notification channel:
A pending request notification includes Approve and Reject actions. Status changes must be enabled for those actions to work. Anyone able to use the buttons in the configured notification channel can moderate the request; Slack moderation is not mapped to that person’s Glean Feed workspace role. The same action used from another channel is rejected. After a successful action, Glean Feed updates the request and the Slack message.
App Home
The app’s Home tab shows the connected Glean Feed and Slack workspaces, notification channel, default board, enabled notification types, links back to Glean Feed, and Create request when setup is complete. If setup, plan access, or authorization needs attention, Home explains what to fix.Channel access and privacy
The app can capture from Slack entry points where Slack makes it available. It can list and post only in channels its Slack authorization can access; invite it to a private channel before selecting that channel in Glean Feed. Glean Feed stores the Slack workspace, channel, user, and message identifiers needed for connection, source notes, activity, and moderation. A message shortcut copies message text into the request form and preserves source context. Review sensitive Slack content before submitting it to Glean Feed.Troubleshoot Slack
- Confirm the Glean Feed workspace is still on Growth or higher and Slack shows Active.
- If channels are missing, invite the app to the intended channel and reload Integrations > Slack.
- If capture says setup is incomplete, save both a Notification channel and Default board.
- If App Home or settings says Reconnect, select Reconnect and approve the same Slack workspace again.
- If moderation is rejected, enable Status changes, use the buttons in the configured notification channel, and make sure the request is still pending.
- Check Activity for recent connection, delivery, settings, disconnection, or moderation results.
